Rihanna, and the Hair That Shaped Her Career
Rihanna (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) made her debut in 2005 when she moved from her small country of Barbados to live in the States after auditioning and signing with Def Jam (Jay-Z was the one who originally signed her). Although mostly known for her music, she actually started her acting career just a year after when she played a cameo role in Bring It On: All or Nothing. Everyone starts somewhere, and a cameo in a feature film is not a bad start.
However, since then, she’s been in more movies as she has studio albums – the most recent one being Ocean’s 8 that was released this year. She played a character named Nine Ball, who is originally from the Caribbean… sounding familiar?
What isn’t familiar is the hair she rolled with during the film. In the movie, Rihanna went full faux locs that went clear down to her butt. No, it’s nowhere near the fist time Rihanna has sported a wig or extensions since moving to the States. She’s had plenty of hairstyles over the years. Bright red wig, the pixie cut she rocked about 10 years ago, gorgeous brown waves (extensions), the list goes on.
As if her success over the radio or on the screen wasn’t impressive enough, she’s also launched several fragrances and a stylist agency named Fr8me which help artists book gigs professionally. More recently, she launched a makeup line, Fenty and a lingerie line, Savage X Fenty.
It’s obvious that creativity is her passion, which may explain why she loves changing her hair up so much. As a performer, it’s pretty much guaranteed that every time you see her, there’s going to be something vastly different about what hairdo she’s rocking.
There’s no ‘signature’ style that she goes with – she seems to genuinely enjoy just being herself and changing things up from time to time. One thing is for certain, wigs play a huge role in Rihanna’s style. From a short bob to long luscious locks, a wig will get you the look people love.
