“Can I wash my hair when I’m wearing my wig or bundle?” This is a common question asked by everybody who wears hair wigs or bundles. Obviously, you can wash your hair, however it’s important to understand how to do it correctly in order to make your wigs and bundles last as long as possible.

Wigs and bundles do not require a high level of maintenance, but a good cleaning routine is required to keep them looking great and make them last longer. The most important thing that you need to do before you wash your hair is to brush. If you remove the tangles beforehand, it will make things much easier once you are out of the shower.

After you have brushed your hair gently to get rid of any tangles or knots, jump in the shower, keeping in mind that the water flows in the direction of your hair growth. This is important, as it will help to avoid any further tangling. You can use shampoo on your wigs and bundles – just make sure it is gentle, moisturizing and completely free of sulfates.

Wash the hair from top to bottom while gently working the shampoo into the strands. After this you need to rinse your hair thoroughly with clean water again, working from the top to the bottom.  You can even apply a good quality conditioner, but do not use too much conditioner as it can build up and lead to tangles. Also, do not apply conditioner to the scalp or roots under any circumstances, as this can cause the extensions to slip or come loose.

When you leave the shower, make sure not to wrap your hair up in a towel, but instead gently squeeze and pat your wig or bundle dry. Washing your hair is not a difficult process as long as you understand what you are doing and why you are doing it.
